Dr Amy Jeffs writes and illustrates her critically acclaimed books from her home in Somerset. Her work combines a love of nature and natural history with her academic training as a medievalist and art historian. She frequently appears on podcasts, Youtube channels and television documentaries and travels widely to speak about medieval and early modern cultures and how they can open our eyes to Britain’s heritage and oldest stories. A small selection of her guest appearances may be found below:

Amy began her career as an academic, intending to pursue a traditional career. She spent time working on a pilgrim souvenir research and digitisation project in the British Museum. Then she joined the British Library’s Medieval and Early Modern Manuscripts team. When she moved to Somerset to finish her thesis, she discovered the pleasure of making linocuts. This led to her first book deal with Quercus Books and the opportunity to work independently, remaining connected to her academic communities, but forging a creative career and a life in the countryside.
